Joe Starita is an author, a journalist, a teacher, and a historian. He has won awards for his writing, even up to being nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for one of his articles. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. While he was younger he became interested in Native American culture. He went to college, playing baseball, and later obtained his degree in Journalism from UNL. He spent years wandering, before finally deciding what he was going to spend the rest of his life doing. California for a year, Hoboken, N.J for a bit, even all the way to Yugoslavia, he spent much time around the world before returning to Nebraska, to work for the Daily Nebraska, before putting on his wandering shoes one last time. He spent 13 years working at the Miami Herald, and went on to become a Professor of Journalism, at University of Lincoln – Nebraska, his own alma mater, where he has spent the past 12 years. He has written two novels, and is currently working on his third, his ‘Moby Dick’, he calls it.
